My Venice Private Guide / PRACTICAL DETAILS

Getting to Venice

Plan your arrival around the meeting point, not only the airport or station. Venice’s historic centre is reached on foot or by water after the land-transfer portion of your journey.

From Marco Polo Airport, compare the official water-transport, water-taxi and bus options. A bus arrival at Piazzale Roma still leaves a walk or waterbus journey to many central hotels and tour meeting points.

For rail arrivals, distinguish Venezia Santa Lucia, on the historic-city side, from Venezia Mestre on the mainland. Leave room in your plan for finding the hotel, leaving luggage and reaching the guide.

Check the municipal access-contribution portal for the dates of your visit and any applicable registration or exemption. A tour booking should not be treated as proof that those requirements are already covered.
